Each year there are thousands of scripts and movie concepts that get shopped around to Hollywood producers and studios. Only a small number of them ever make it to the local movieplex or your DVD player.
Lucky for us, even if we can't see these movies, we can at least learn about the concepts thanks to The Blacklist, an annual survey of the best movie scripts that haven't yet been given the green light. Here are my picks for the 5 most intriguing concepts.

  • 1

    Bethlehem

Bethlehem is what you get was you cross pop culture's most popular supernatural beings: zombies and vampires. Think of it as 'The Walking Dead' meets 'True Blood.' The concept of Bethlehem is that humans allow themselves to be used as foodstuffs for vampires in return for protection against zombies.

  • 2

    The End

What would you do if you knew the world would end in just 6 hours? This movie follows 4 main characters as they come to terms with The End.

  • 3

    Maggie

Need more proof that zombies are the hottest Hollywood concept? Check out the plot of Maggie. A 'Walking Dead' like zombie apocalypse has hit the world. A rural family must come to grips with their eldest daughter who has come down with the 'zombie sickness.'

  • 4

    The Three Misfortunes Of Geppetto

What was Geppetto's life like before he crafted the puppet Pinocchio? This concept follows the life of the storybook puppeteer. I suspect it won't be very Disney-fied.

  • 5

    Breyton Ave

A suburban 'Lord of the Flies.' A group of teenagers must find social order in a world where all adults have vanished from their insular fenced-in neighborhood.
