‘The Glee Project’ Canceled Due to Scheduling Conflicts

After two seasons, Oxygen has canceled ‘The Glee Project,’ the reality show on which hopefuls, like Season 2 winner Blake Jenner, pictured above, competed for a role on the series. The show is dunzo. Finito. Over. A thing of the past. But it wasn’t axed because it sucked or performed poorly.

Instead, Fox’s late renewal of Season 5 of ‘Glee‘ left little time to turn around the reality show. It ultimately handicapped Ryan Murphy from writing a role and storyline for the winner of the ‘Project.’

The network confirmed to The Wrap that the show is not returning to the programming lineup for a third season, saying, “We are extremely proud of this series which launched the careers of several talented individuals. The show had so much heart and we thank Ryan Murphy and all of the creative talent who helped make the series a critical darling.”

The death of ‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith, who appeared on Season 2 of ‘TGP,’ did not influence the decision to cancel the series. That choice was made weeks ago. Despite a dedicate fanbase, the scheduling issues made the show a casualty.

Season 5 of ‘Glee’ proper may see some delays due to Monteith’s passing, however.
