(Marcy, NY) – Townsquare Utica radio stations Big Frog 104, Lite 98.7, WIBX 950, Oldiez 96.1 and the Utica Boilermaker would like to thank everyone who generously made a donation to the Mohawk Valley Flood Fund 2013.

The money raised in late June and throughout the month of July has been divided among three local charities – The American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities – who have been providing direct assistance to our neighbors who were impacted by the severe flooding event we experienced this summer.

“We are overwhelmed and amazed by the gracious support that so many of our listeners offered to help those who were displaced or affected by the storms, ‘’ said Townsquare Utica General Manager Karen Carey. ‘’It’s wonderful to see our community come together to help those who were impacted, many of whom they don’t know and will never meet.’’

Boilermaker President Tim Reed said, ‘’I was proud to partner with Townsquare Media to support the people in an area that we all call home.  We were happy Townsquare took a leadership role in this flood relief effort, and it was humbling to hear from runners who actually remembered to put money in their clothes and sneakers and carry it throughout the 5k and 15k races so that they could make a donation to the Flood Fund,’’ Reed said.

Terry Leonard, executive director Catholic Charities Herkimer County added, ‘’I would like to offer my deepest and sincerest thank you to all the listeners who contributed to the flood campaign. We have had an overwhelming number of calls, and there are many agencies who have come together to work on this. I appreciate the opportunity to distribute the fund, raised by your listeners, to our local area residents.’’

Jennifer Balog, executive director of the American Red Cross Mohawk Valley Chapter said, ‘’We worked with the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities throughout the disaster. The three organizations really worked well together, and it was a way for us to open up new partnerships and opportunities in the future. It really was a collaborative effort. We are really appreciative of how this community came together in a time of need. Please thank all of the listeners for their donations because this really was a tragic time,’’ she said.

‘’We are very appreciative for this and all of the donations that have been received so far, and we are still accepting them’’, said Lt. John Wood of the Herkimer Salvation Army.  ‘’Our location is not taking clothing donations at this time. We recommend that they take clothing to the family center in Ilion. Financial donations can still come in to the Salvation Army – in the memo of the check, just write Herkimer Flood Assistance 2013,’’ he said.

Townsquare Media setup temporary collection locations in the community to benefit local flood victims and, with the help Boilermaker Race officials, coordinated a funding collection at the Boilermaker Post Race Party. Each Townsquare Utica radio station also established secure online donation portals to allow listeners to conveniently contribute to the Mohawk Valley Flood Fund 2013. Additionally, station Big Frog 104 held an auction, with 100% of proceeds going to the fund. And, Dominion, a Virginia base power company, learned about the flood relief effort through Big Frog 104 and made a $4,000 donation directly to the Salvation Army Herkimer Chapter.
