In recent years, TV networks have been trying to recreate holiday magic and create "modern classics" by producing lots and lots of holiday specials and movies, especially on cable. But nothing can beat movies like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Coming To Town, and of course A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Some cable networks devote the entire month and more to Christmas stuff. ABC Family, has its "25 Days of Christmas," and Hallmark Channel began programming before Thanksgiving to maximize audiences that are their biggest of the year. Lifetime even dubs its slate of holiday-related movies, "It's a Wonderful Lifetime."

So, while you still might find Rudolph and Frosty and Charlie Brown out there, you'll also find Annie Claus Is Coming to Town, The Christmas Pageant and Christmas Comes Home to Canaan. Only time will tell if these shows, or any others, stand the test of time.

What’s your favorite modern holiday classic? Does your family have any favorite Christmas specials that are newer?

This is one of my favorite holiday classics… The Year Without A Santa Claus!
