Utica Man Attempts to Rob Downtown Key Bank with a Plunger

Here in Central New York we’re a hearty and inventive people. Lawrence Deptola proved that when he allegedly attempted to rob the downtown Utica branch of Key Bank using a toilet plunger.
Utica police tell our newsgathering partner WIBX
49-year old Lawrence Deptola went into the Key Bank on Genesee Street at about 1:30 yesterday afternoon and threatened a teller with the plunger.
They say Deptola had also entered two other banks acting suspiciously.
He was taken into custody by officers who had responded to the Key Bank.
Deptola was charged with attempted robbery.
The plunger was recovered at nearby Citizen’s Bank.
