A popular Utica pizza place was recently named one of the best in Upstate, New York.  It should come as no surprise that this world famous shop is turning the pizza world upside down.

NewYorkUpstate.com recently put together a top 11 "Best of" list for pizza places in the Empire State. We here at Lite 98.7 thought the timing of their compilation was impeccable because voting is currently underway for the Lite Listener Choice Awards.

The website ranked the world famous O'Scugnizzo's as one of Central New York's favorite places for pizza.  According to their website:

The oldest location on the list is also the second oldest pizzeria in America. Opening in 1914, O'Scugnizzo's has become known for its upside down pizza, where the toppings go on before the cheese and sauce. If you can't travel to Utica for the pizza, don't fret because the restaurant ships pies anywhere in the continental U.S.

Other shops making their Top 11 list:

Avicolli's Pizzeria Restaurant (Liverpool)

Canale's Italian Cuisine (Oswego)

Gianni's Bronx Style Pizza (Syracuse)

Ironwood Pizza (Manlius)

Mario & Salvo's Pizzeria (Dewitt)

Paladino's Pizza (Mattydale)

Pavone's Pizza & Eatery (Manlius)

Twin Trees (Syracuse)

Varsity Pizza (Syracuse)

Pepis Pizza   (Oneida)

You have until Thursday of this week to vote for your favorite pizza place in Central New York. If you haven't taken the time to vote yet, please do. You're favorite shop can't win if you don't cast your ballot.
