Canastota police arrested the principal of the J.D. George Elementary School of Vernon on the afternoon of November 30th.  44-year-old Kimberly LeBlanc was charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to the Post Standard, Leblanc struck a parked car in the parking lot of a Canastota gas station.  She did not stop and drove to another gas station nearby.  When police arrived, she had an open can of been in her car's cup holder.

LaBlanc had been on administrative leave since last July, and voluntarily resigned on December 31st.  The VVS School System did not say why the former principal was on leave at the time of her arrest.  She had been principal of the school since 2011, and was reportedly paid $90,000 a year, plus benefits.
