I lived in New Hartford back in 2005, and I remember that year being an especially brutal winter here in Central New York. I recall getting ready for work one frigid day in January. Wait a minute, frigid isn't the proper term to use. It was downright unbearable; like -20 or so.

Getting out of bed on those freezing cold days is challenging enough, but actually venturing out into the winter madness is painful.  That particular day in January was especially agonizing because I was having car trouble. I spent nearly an hour outside, shivering and shaking as I tried to figure out why my old Suburu wouldn't start. I eventually looked under the car and discovered a brown puddle in the snow.  I had an oil leak and I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. I wish I had taken the time to have my car inspected and winterized.
