Each year, YWCA Mohawk Valley honors amazing women throughout our community. These women have made significant contributions to the Mohawk Valley, and for that, they deserve to be recognized.

Since the beginning of Salute to Outstanding Women in 1989, YWCA has honored 248 incredible women from Oneida and Herkimer counties. The award officially welcomes each year’s new honorees to our Salute Academy, a collective of all the women we have honored through the decades.

You can celebrate these women and take part in the special event as well. The 2019 honorees will be recognized this year at a luncheon at Hart's Hill Inn in Whitesboro. Here's the special women being honored for the 31st year:

Education: Maria Lindsay, Principal at Little Falls Middle School

Entrepreneur: Christina Buschmann, Owner of Yoga Hot Spot

Healthcare: Dianne DiMeo, Training and Staff Development Coordinator at Regional Primary Care Network

Human and Public Service: Gail Miskowiec, 
Chief Operations Officer at The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter

Outstanding Youth: Brooke Riscica, Senior at Whitesboro High School

Professions/Business & Industry: Kristen Szarek, Director of Customer Care at Defense Finance Accounting Service, Rome

Social Justice: Olivia Paul, Financial Compliance Officer at The Hartford

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math): Lisa Davis, Coordinator of Imagination, Inspiration, and Innovation at Westmoreland Central Schools’ Maker Space

Unsung Heroine: Sister Lois Paciello, Community Outreach and Bereavement Director at Church of Our Lady of Lourdes
