A Fresh Look at ‘Utica Struggles’ – Boilermaker Finish Line

The original photo shows a couple standing in the parking lot at the Shoppes at the Finish Line on Court Street in Utica.  The photo focuses on the couple and the for-sale sign on the building behind them.

The real story:  This area is the gem of the brewery district.  The parking lot is right across the street from the F.X. Matt/Saranac Brewery and Utica's thriving entertainment district along Varick Street.  The Getty photo also obscures the Boilermaker Finish Line - the ending point of America's largest 15K road race.
