Halloween is barely over, and the first Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Central New York - including Utica, Rome and Syracuse. Some areas could see as much as 9 inches of snow.

Ready or not, here comes the snow. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, and Chenango counties from 7pm Sunday night to 10am Monday morning and a Winter Storm Watch for Northern Oneida, Northern Herkimer, and Lewis Counties from Monday night to Tuesday morning.

Central New York, including the cities of Utica, Rome, Syracuse, Oneida, and Hamilton could expect to see 3-6 inches of lake effect snow, with heavy snow fall in Northern Oneida County. The Old Forge area could see as much as 9 inches of snow.

Drivers should plan for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility due to blowing snow.

Sunday - Showers, mainly after noon. High near 49. South wind 13 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday Night - Rain and snow showers likely before 11pm, then snow showers. Low around 30. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday - Snow showers likely, mainly before 11am. Patchy blowing snow after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday Night - Snow showers likely before midnight, then rain and snow showers likely between midnight and 3am, then snow showers likely after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. West wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around 3 inches.

Tuesday - A chance of snow showers before 10am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 10am and 11am, then a chance of rain showers after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
