It's sure to be an exciting weekend here in central New York. Lite 98.7 welcomes Utica on Tap to the Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, and Utica College will be playing host to nearly 10,000 people for America's Greatest Heart Run and walk.

I've been out of the area for a while but I'm excited to say that this year I will be taking part in this exciting event. On Friday, Naomi Lynn and I will be at Utica College jogging on the tread mill in the hopes of stomping out America's #1 killer. If I'm not too sore on Saturday, I also hope to run the 5k. I'd like to encourage you to brave the cold and join 10,000 of your closest friends in knocking out heart disease this weekend.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness of heart disease and raise more than $1 million toward fighting this terrible disease that is America’s No. 1 killer. (Utica College)

If you've been waiting for an opportunity to volunteer your time, or participate in an event, this weekend's Heart Run and Walk has your name written all over it! There are a couple ways to play a part: you can volunteer by clicking HERE; or if you'd prefer to run or walk in one of the races, click HERE.

If you've been waiting for an opportunity to serve others here in the Mohawk Valley, now's your chance!

You don't have to be an athlete to participate in America's Greatest Heart Run & Walk. All you need is the willingness to make a difference in the lives of others.

I look forward to seeing you and thousands of other Uticans this weekend. Let's brave the winter weather together and silence heart disease once and for all!
