Amy Winehouse’s Life Story to be Turned Into a Musical
While her life may have been cut short, Amy Winehouse's short career inspired many and will now be turned into a musical. According to a report from The Sun, the singer's family is in talks to make a musical based on her life, featuring songs from her career.
Speaking at the Amy Winehouse Foundation Gala in London last week, her father Mitch said, "A musical celebrating her life and music is being talked about for the near future." He added, "It is something I'd really like to happen and I've said I'm happy for it to go ahead."
According to the father, the family prefers the musical focuses on the good parts of Amy's life, instead of the drugs and alcohol. “We want to do something positive about how she developed her music," he said. "What we don’t hear is that she was clean of drugs for three years when she died.”
Winehouse passed away on July 23, 2011 at the age of 27 from alcohol poisoning. Following her death, the album Back to Black posthumously became the U.K.'s best-selling album of the 21st century for a time.
