Looking for an interesting "date night" idea, or just want to do something different on the weekend? You may want to check out the Beer and Wine Train on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad.

Have you ever taken a ride on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad? It's a pretty unique and beautiful experience. If you have, have you ever taken part in one of their "Beer and Wine Trains"? Now that's something you'll always remember. If you haven't (or even if you have), why not take a trip on their next ride, coming up Friday, July 13th?

The Adirondack Scenic Railroad's Beer and Wine Train will depart from Union Station (in Utica) at 6:30pm (with boarding beginning at 6pm). The train will then take you on a scenic ride as you make your way to Remsen Station. While you're taking in all the views and enjoying the calming motion of the train, you'll get to indulge in some delicious award-winning cheeses, light snacks, and select beers and wines (that are available for purchase). There will also be music to tie the whole event together. There is also non-alcoholic beverages available if you would just like to enjoy the ride, music, and light snacks. The cost is $25 per person and of course you must be 21 or over to ride for this trip (even if you're not drinking).

They also have special first-class tickets available, which include gourmet hor d'oeuvres and table seating (and table side service). Those tickets are $45 a person.

And if you can't make it out to the "Beer and Wine Train" on July 13th, there are other ones throughout the summer and into fall. Here are the other dates:

Friday, July 27th
Friday, August 10th
Friday, August 24th
Friday, September 14th
Friday, September 28th
Friday, October 12th
Friday, October 26th

Be aware though, times of the train ride change once the Adirondack Scenic Railroad gets into the fall season. Rides in September and October depart later in the evening, than they do in the summer. These dates will depart at 7pm (with boarding starting at 6:30pm).

So if you're looking for something unique and fun to do on a Friday evening, or just want a little time away from the kids, a ride on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad may be just what you need. And if a "Beer and Wine" ride isn't what you're looking for, you can check out all their other train trips (some themed, and others just a nice ride in the Adirondacks), just visit their website: AdirondackRR.com
