Are you ready for the 2018 Great New York State Fair? Here's the days you should go to the fairgrounds if you're hoping to save a little bit of money.

Everyone knows going to the fair can get expensive pretty fast. But if you plan ahead you can get some great deals and discounts. You know you can catch a free concert at the Chevy Court every day of the fair, so you'll definitely want to mark your calendars for your favorite acts. But you'll also want to consider what days you can get into the fair at a discount, and when there are other special deals being offered around the fairgrounds. We found some of the best deals being offered (and what days you'll find these deals) from the Great New York State Fair's website. These are the ones we think you should consider:

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22: This is opening day at the Great New York State Fair and you can get in for just $1.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 23: According to the New York State Fair's website, this day is "$3 Thursday," which means admission is just $3 per person.

MONDAY, AUGUST 27: According to NYSFair.NY.gov,

We honor the men and women of law enforcement in New York State with free admission to any active or retired law enforcement or corrections personnel who presents a badge or picture ID from the department from which they are or were employed...

Senior Citizens also get into the fair for free on Monday, August 27. AND on top of those discounts, there's deals at the midway. You can ride 10 rides for just $10.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 28: On this day, the New York State Fair honors active and retired members of fire departments and emergency services. Active and retired members can get into the fair for free. Senior Citizens can also get into the fair for free on Tuesday.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 30: Active and retired members of the military get into the state fair for free on Aug. 30. And it is another $3 Thursday, where non-military can get into the fair for just $3.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 31: The state fair is calling this day "Six Nations Day" and are honoring Native Americans with free admission. It's also "Student Day," so anyone 18 and under gets into the fair for free, as well.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3: The last day of the fair is also "Summer Send Off Dollar Day." On this day, adults get into the fair for only $1 and all the rides in the midway are $1 each.
