A convicted rapist who absconded his parole has been located and placed under arrest.

66-year-old Ronald Cook ceased reporting to his parole officer and cut off his GPS locator bracelet. His escape from intensive supervision prompted a state-wide search for him.

Due to a joint effort from state and local law enforcement agencies and valuable tips from the public, Cook was apprehended.

Binghamton Police finally located and arrested Cook late Saturday afternoon and he's being held in the Broome County Jail. In the days ahead he will be returned to Central New York where he will face criminal charges.
