Cuomo Orders Closure of All Barber Shops, Nail and Hair Salons
Governor Cuomo has ordered the closure of all barber shops, and nail and hair salons in the state. The order includes tattoo and piercing parlors as well.
By Executive Order, the closure is set to begin Saturday, March 21 at 8pm. There is no end date set for the closure. The shut down is the latest in a set of actions taken to slow the spread of coronavirus across the state.
The Governor says the activities that take place at these businesses can't be performed while "maintaining social distance."
Part of the order reads:
"Effective March 21, 2020 at 8 p.m. and until further notice, all barbershops, hair salons, tattoo or piercing parlors and related personal care services will be closed to members of the public. This shall also include nail technicians, cosmetologists and estheticians, and the provision of electrolysis, laser hair removal services, as these services cannot be provided while maintaining social distance."
