An earthquake shook southern California early this St.Patrick's Day morning about 6:25 local time. Preliminary reports put the magnitude at 4.4 acording to the US Geologic Survey.

The first reports are now coming in. A friend of mine who lives in SoCal said the ground rumbled for about 10 seconds.

The USGS says the quake was located just northwest of downtown Los Angeles near Westwood or 6 miles from Beverly Hills.
