Farmer’s Markets Growing in Central New York

It is one of the sure signs that summer is right around the corner - farmer's markets are popping back up around the area. Here's where you can find them.

The Berkshire-Rome Vendors' Market is open every Friday from 9am-6pm in the Berkshire Bank parking lot across from Fort Stanwix. The market has been running for nearly 20 years and is currently operated by Rome's Wagner Farms. Stop by and stock up for the weekend with fresh produce and other merchandise.

The Oneida County Public Market has been operating twice a month over the winter inside Utica's Union Station, but they will be back outside the train station every Saturday from 9am-1pm starting May 20, 2017. The market started in 2011 as an initiative by County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. In addition to the plentiful fresh produce and foods, you'll find entertainment, arts and crafts, and a family-friendly atmosphere.

You'll have a little longer to wait, but this one is always a great way to start out the week. The Whitesboro Farmer's Market is opening for the season June 5 on the Village Green on Main St. The market runs every Monday with new hours this year - 1pm-6pm. Include a trip to the library to make it a fun and educational summer outing with the kids.

If you need another excuse to stroll around the charming shops and restaurants in Clinton, be sure to stop by on Thursdays for the Farmers Market on the Village Green. They will be starting up for the season on June 1 and always have a great variety of vendors.

It says so right on their website - the CNY Regional Market in Syracuse is NOT your average farmers market. They feature lots of events and vendors at their space on Park St in Syracuse, but the Thursday & Saturday Farmers Market and Sunday Flea Market are something you need to experience. The sprawling facility features tons of vendors and always something good to eat. Next time you're heading to Destiny USA, be sure to include this stop on your trip.

With so many farmers' markets and farm stands in our area, it can be hard to choose. But where ever you decide to go, you know you'll be serving the freshest and healthiest foods on your table that night.
