We have gone from an Advisory to a Watch and now the National Weather Service calls it a Winter Storm Warning. Snowfall totals could be near a foot. An even greater concern will be ice coupled with strong winds.

WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT.

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches with localized amounts up to 12 inches and ice accumulations of up to three-tenths of an inch. Winds gusts of 40 to 50 mph Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult, especially during the Friday morning and midday commute. Heavy snow combined with gusty winds will cause scattered power outages. Morning snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour may make travel nearly impossible.
