Here’s How To Save Lives In Central New York Saturday
If you're looking to do some good in Central New York, you can help save lives on Saturday.
On Saturday, November 16th between 8:30AM through 1:30PM, Uvanni Motors of Rome will be hosting a special event close to their hearts, a blood drive. This blood drive is to honor their daughter Camryn Uvanni. Your donation of blood during the drive can help save lives, just like Camryn's was saved.
One year ago, if you asked Camryn Uvanni, a 17-year-old from Rome, New York, what she wanted for her future you would have gotten an unexpected answer; “To beat cancer”, would have been her answer. In 2023 Uvanni was battling Leukemia. During her treatment, Camryn received life-saving blood transfusions thanks to generous blood donors. Today, the cancer is in remission, and she is thriving.
For this event, the Red Cross is adding a participation incentive of a $10.00 e-Gift Card. Additionally, each participant will have an opportunity to enter a drawing to win a $7,000.00 Gift Card. Some restrictions apply.
In New York State alone, the Red Cross collects approximately 350,000 units of blood each year to support hospitals and patients in need. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and one donation can save up to three lives. The Red Cross emphasizes that blood cannot be manufactured; it must come from volunteer donors. This makes local blood drives, like the one hosted by Uvanni Motors, essential to maintaining an adequate blood supply. “Together, we can continue Camryn's legacy of strength, and show our gratitude, while providing future opportunities for those in need of blood transfusions.”, said Camryn’s mother, Kelley Uvanni. “Thank you in advance for your support!”, she continued.
The Blood Drive is being held at Uvanni Motors, 5829 Rome-Taberg Road of Rome. To schedule an appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org.
