CNY Business Closing Two Stores After 25 Years in the Community

After 25 years serving customers across Central New York, Dream City Mattress is closing the doors to both of its locations in New Hartford and Rome.

The company has announced it will shut down its stores on August 31st and is holding a massive liquidation sale to clear out all remaining inventory before moving completely online.

Everything Must Go During Final Store Sale

For the next few weeks, customers will have the chance to shop Dream City Mattress inventory at special liquidation pricing. The company says this is the lowest pricing available as it works to empty both locations.

If you’ve been thinking about replacing an old mattress, upgrading a bedroom, or just looking for a deal, this could be the time to take a look. Once the inventory is gone, those savings will be gone too.

The closing marks the end of an era for the two storefronts, but the company says it will continue serving customers through its online store.

Dream City Mattress Isn't The Only Local Business Closing Its Doors

Sadly, Dream City Mattress isn't the only local business saying goodbye.

While we aren't seeing the same wave of closures we saw during the COVID shutdown era — when it seemed like every day brought another restaurant or small business announcing it was closing — there are still businesses making the tough decision to shut down.

Arizona Taco recently closed its doors in Rome, leaving behind an empty storefront.

While it's not the constant stream of closures we experienced during the pandemic, every time a business closes, it leaves a hole in the community.
