Jada Pinkett Smith Wanted ‘The Most Horrific’ Death in ‘Scream 2′
In the late '90s, to get murdered in a Scream movie was the highest of honors in the film biz, especially if you were the first kill. Jada Pinkett Smith had that opportunity in 1997's Scream 2, as Drew Barrymore's first kill successor. The actress recently recounted the experience during an episode of PeopleTV's Couch Surfing, emphasizing the importance of having a gruesomely epic death scene.
“I remember saying to the director at the time, ‘I want to die the most horrific death that has ever happened in a horror film,'” she recalls. “‘I want it to be long and excruciating.'”
The director, who happened to be the king of macabre Wes Craven, happily obliged. Pinkett Smith's character perished while attending a screening of Stab (the meta film-within-a-film about a serial killer picking off co-eds) during the film's opening scene.

Last month, the Girls Trip actress penned a poignant open letter honoring the late Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade and revealing her struggles with mental illness.
"One thing I’ve learned in my life over the years is that mental health is something we should practice daily, not just when issues arise," she wrote. "We should take care of our mind and spirit in the same way we do our body. With the suicides of Kate and Anthony it brought up feelings of when I was in such despair and had considered the same demise...often. In the years I spent towards my healing, many moons ago, I realized the mind and heart can be extremely delicate without the foundation of a formidable spirit. What I eat, what I watch on TV, what music I listen to, how I care for my body, my spiritual practice, what people I surround myself with, the amount of stress I allow and so on... either contribute to or deteriorate my mental health."
