Jim Carrey Posts An Anti-Assault Weapons Tweet [POLL]

Now what could one of America's most beloved actors, Jim Carrey, possibly say that would have so many up in 'arms'?  It seems he's ruffled some features with a controversial tweet and he's feeling the wrath of the gun lobby.

Anyone who would run out to buy an assault rifle after the Newtown massacre has very little left in their body and soul worth protecting.    tweeted Jim Carrey.

Was he out of line? Is anyone opinions really out of line? It appears that plenty of celebrities are taking to twitter with this sort of commentary and it doesn't seem to be hurting their careers. Is Jim in step with most of America's view or not? Polls show that most Americans support universal background checks for all gun purchases. 70% of Americans polled favor getting rid of semi-automatic assault rifles and just about everybody agrees that we must make improvements on gun safety.
