The National Weather Service has issues two different weather advisories for the counties of Central New York for Wednesday, January 18.

A Lake Effect Snow Advisory is in effect from 4AM through 5PM Wednesday for the counties of Oneida, Madison and Onondaga.  Accumulations could reach

3 to 7 inches, primarily over northern Onondaga and Madison counties and in
Oneida County from the Camden area west to Rome and south to
Waterville.

Separately, a Wind Warning is in effect from 7PM tonight until 1PM Wednesday morning for wind gusts this evening up to 65 mph.  A wide swath of Upstate New York from the Finger Lakes to Mohawk Valley are under the warning.  The advisory is no longer in effect

SYRACUSE BETWEEN 830 AND 9 PM...AND UTICA AND ROME BETWEEN 9 AND 10 PM. FREQUENT WIND GUSTS BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH WILL CONTINUE INTO THE OVERNIGHT AFTER THIS LINE OF STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS PASSES BY. THE WINDS WILL BEGIN TO SUBSIDE LATE TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING.

 

This evening's line of storms has also brought a severe thunderstorm to the Rochester area.

The combination of lake effect snow and high winds could lead to blowing and drifting snow on Wednesday.
