Madonna has been a huge hit-maker for more than 30 years, but it looks like her reign at the top is slowly coming to an end, even with a new hit song out, and an album on the way.

Her latest album "Rebel Heart" is expected to be released this March, but the single "Living For Love," has already been released. The song was available for airplay since December. Even with the singer's efforts to still relate, Radio 1 decided to cut her from their playlist. They say she is just too old for their teenage listeners.

Madonna's latest single "Living For Love" was played just once on Radio 1, and it played after at a time when songs that are not on the playlist can be aired - after 7pm. Daily Mail reports,

The station last night said the single had been omitted from playlists on the basis of ‘audience relevance’ and ‘musical merit’.

A Radio 1 insider said: ‘At the end of the day it’s all about relevance. It’s natural that as an artist gets older their audience goes elsewhere and Radio 1 has to reflect that.

Madonna's latest single will be played on Radio 2, however. Radio 2 reaches a different audience - including people over the age of 35.

The singer has sold over 300 million records worldwide, and has been honored with 20 MTV Video Music Awards.
