We know how to have fun in Central New York, from great restaurants to full use of the Adirondacks for year-round activities, but it turns out the Empire State enjoys a pretty good ranking overall when it comes to fun.

WalletHub has published its annual list of 2018's Most Fun States in America. These are places that offer the most amusements for adults looking to unwind, cut loose, have some laughs, get active, relax and have a good time. WalletHub put it this way:

With pure enjoyment in mind, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 26 key indicators of a jolly good time that won’t break the bank. They range from movie costs to accessibility of national parks to casinos per capita.

Even though New York doesn't score as well in some areas like marinas and access to national parks, the state does grade out as the second-most fun overall for adults.

The areas where New York excels include restaurants, movie theaters, access to the arts, and fitness centers per capita.

Overall, we're right ahead of Nevada, with its Las Vegas playground, and just behind California in fun. The bottom three are Delaware, Mississippi and West Virginia, where we're sure they've all figured out how to have THEIR own version of a good time.
