Halloween is in the air and CandyStore.com is out with its annual list of Most Popular Halloween Candy State-by-State. New Yorkers have a passion for one particular brand of candy, and they share that passion with four other U.S. states

Nebraska, Maine, Illinois and Massachusetts join New York with an insatiable taste for...Sour Patch Kids. The sour sweet is the #1 favorite Halloween candy in those five states. And New York is by far the biggest consumer, eating over 200,000 pounds of Sour Patch Kids during the Halloween season alone.

The next most favorite candy in New York is Candy Corn (and obviously we can never be friends with THOSE New Yorkers ever again), followed by Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

These statistics raise some vital questions:

Since New York shares its sweet tooth preference for Sour Patch Kids with Massachusetts, does that mean we are now kindred spirits with our geographical next-door neighbors in the Bay State?

Shouldn't we celebrate our mutual love and compatibility?

Can we also learn to love Tom Brady and the New England Patriots?

And why does Connecticut feel the need to flash its superiority in candy selection with the elitist Almond Joy bar? No wonder sports fans in New York hate UConn so much.
