Oktober-Flight Fun Run in Marcy Helps Fight Childhood Cancer (and There’s Beer)

It's a run and it ends in beer. Isn't that all you need to know? Okay, it also supports kids fighting cancer in Syracuse. It starts in Marcy. Let's go.

Mohawk Valley Wellness is participating in the '315K for the Cure', a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families battling pediatric cancer in Central New York. The organization was founded in 2014 by Utica natives Colin LaReaux and Brooke Hoffman, who are cancer survivors themselves.

'315K for the Cure' raises money to help pediatric cancer patients and their families, as they take on the fight of their lives. All monies raised go to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, where Colin and Brooke were treated.

Mohawk Valley Wellness is sponsoring one of the group runs this year, Oktober-Flight, in conjunction with Woodland Farm Brewery. On Saturday, October 10, teams of 3 will run from Mohawk Valley Wellness in Marcy to Woodland Farm Brewery in Deerfield- a distance of 3.5 miles- where they can enjoy some tasty brews while helping in the fight against pediatric cancer.

In order to ensure appropriate social distancing, start times will be staggered and entries will be limited to 30 teams. Each team must raise $100 per runner to participate. If you're not a runner, you can still head to Woodland Farm Brewery for a beer and to support the cause.
