After numerous roles on stage and screen, plus eight Oscar nominations, actor Peter O'Toole has decided it's time to quit showbiz and focus on something else.

O'Toole says he's retiring from the stage and films  because "the heart for it has gone out of me: it won't come back."  In a statement, 79 year old O'Toole thanks the profession and his fans for such a fulfilling career, even with a few flops too, and says it's time "to bid the profession a dry-eyed and profoundly grateful farewell."   The actor's rep says he'll be spending his free time working on his third volume of memoirs.   Some of his most memorable roles were in films such as  Lawrence of Arabia, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, My Favorite Year and The Lion in Winter.  Will you miss this veteran actor?   Too bad he never won an Oscar, other than an honorary one.
