Ready or not, here comes the first snow of the season in central New York.

The National Weather Service says the flurries may start to fly Wednesday night. But there's a better chance for snow Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, making for a messy morning commute to end the work week.

The potential for accumulating snow is increasing for Thursday afternoon into Friday morning. Accompanying the snow will be gusty winds and unseasonably cold air. While the amounts and locations of the snow are still uncertain, it would be wise to prepare for slippery roads and sidewalks and a difficult commutes to work and school late Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures will be in the 20s overnight starting Thursday and only reach 30 Friday. Saturday looks nice with sunshine in the forecast, but it'll stay unseasonably cold with highs in the mid 30s. Another round of snow is possible Sunday through Monday, October 11th for Veteran's Day.
