A Rome mom is heartbroken after thieves stole a stone angel from her yard that stood in tribute to her late son.

In 2009, 22-year-old LCpl. Daniel Geary was killed in action, while serving his country in Afghanistan with the United States Marine Corps. According to Daniel's obituary, he graduated from Rome Free Academy and "loved his family and his community. He enjoyed the many hours spent on family bowling outings and volunteered at many community service events."

Agnes Geary says she noticed on Sunday that someone had stolen the concrete angel from her front yard. The concrete angel stands about 18" tall and had a rosary around its neck that had been placed there by one of Daniel's friends. "The Angel was part of the memorial we have for him and other fallen heroes in our front yard," according to Agnes.

Agnes shared the theft on her Facebook page - and many responded with sympathy and the promise to keep an eye out for the stolen tribute.

If you happen to see the concrete angel or you have any information about where the angel is, please contact the Rome Police Department or Agnes Geary via the Facebook page linked above.

You can help out this Gold Star mom by just keeping an eye out for this angel.
