Portions of Interstates 81 and 90 Closing in Upstate New York

The Great Winter Storm of 2014 is causing the New York State Department of Transportation to close two major stretches of interstate in Upstate New York on Monday January 6, 2014.

Update: 1/7/14 9AM - both stretches of Interstate reported below last night remain closed.

New York State Thruway South of Buffalo

A portion of the New York State Thurway between Exits 50 and 61 will be closed as of 8PM this evening.  That closes the entire western stretch of the road southwest of Buffalo. Exit 50 is located in Buffalo while Exit 61 is located at the Pennsylvania state line at Shortman Road in Ripley.

Interstate 81

Interstate 81 is closing between Syracuse and Watertown this evening at 8PM again due to expected heavy Lake Effect Snow. Specifically the closure is betwteen Exits 31 and 45.
