What Houses Did You Hear Where Haunted When You Were Young?

When I moved to Central New York a decade ago, I began hearing about some old houses that were subjects of longstanding rumors of being haunted.

One of them was the house on River Road in Marcy, pictured above from an archived 2008 Google Street View. It stood near the State Police barracks and was razed sometime within the last five years to make room for a new housing development.

Similar stories exist for this house in New Hartford on Middle Settlement Road near Twin Orchards. The property has been for sale for years and the house is set well back from the road inviting urban legends of what lurks in there.
