We're almost through the first full week of December, so the holiday season is in full swing.

It's a race against the clock to try and get all those Christmas presents in time before the 25th and if you have kids, then surely they have already written their list for Santa Claus.

Christmas truly is one giant tradition and writing out those gifts you want for Christmas never gets old. Santa then delivers all those presents on Christmas Eve, as children sleep in their beds and milk and cookies are left out of gratitude for Santa.

We know that Santa lives up in the North Pole, along with his elves who help him prepare those presents for travel, but did you even know that Santa was born in New York State? Yes, really.

New York's history site confirms that Santa's origins started right here in New York.

New Yorker and cartoonist Thomas Nast came up with the first images of Santa in 1863, which was in Harper's Weekly. While there were differences in look over those next few years, Nast eventually drew what we now know as Santa Claus, which features his red jacket with his hat and jolly appearance.

Speaking of Christmas traditions, "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" was also first published in New York; Troy, NY to be exact, according to NY History dot org.

New York is one of the best places in the country to celebrate Christmas. The weather here gets all four seasons and many crave the cold and snow in the month of December. Hopefully, we can get a white Christmas in 2022.
