SCAM ALERT: Hey CNY, Ellen Isn’t Giving You Money If You Share Her Facebook Post
Guys, Ellen is not giving you money if you share her Facebook post.
My grandma used to say, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." This alleged $2,000,000 giveaway that's supposed to be coming from comedian Ellen Degeneres is one of those things.
It's a scam. Ellen is not giving away $2,000,000 on Facebook. She might give away a lot of stuff on her (awesome) show - but this isn't that.
First of all, this isn't Ellen's verified profile page. You can tell in a number of ways: first, it's only being followed by about 3,000 people. The real Ellen has more fans than that.
Facebook makes it easy for you to tell if it's a "verified" account - look for the little blue circle with a check in it. That means Facebook has taken the time to confirm this account is owned by the person that it says it is. Plus, it's followed by MILLIONS of people.
If you see a post that asks you to share it to win something insane - like $2,000,000 - take a few seconds and click through to the profile to check if things seem legit. This Ellen giveaway is a scam.
