Storms could bring damaging winds, heavy rains and possible hail to central New York.

The National Weather Service says clusters of showers and thunderstorms will develop Wednesday afternoon and last into the evening. Gusty winds and heavy rainfall will be the main threats. However, a few storms may produce damaging wind gusts and possible hail in Oneida, Onondaga and Madison counties.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. South wind around 6 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1pm and 3pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. Light west wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 88.
