In a move that is happening nationwide, Target at Sangertown Square Mall in New Hartford will be removing gender-based signs from our local location.

According to CNYCentral, Target has decided to phase out gender based signage in ALL of its stores. They will start with the children's bedding and toy aisles:

"In the kids’ bedding area, signs will no longer feature suggestions for boys or girls, just kids. In the Toys aisle, we’ll also remove reference to gender, including the use of pink, blue, yellow or green paper on the back walls of our shelves. You’ll see these changes start to happen over the next few months," the online blog stated.

Why is Target doing this? Removing the signage is a result of customer feedback.

Right now, our teams are working across the store to identify areas where we can phase out gender-based signage to help strike a better balance. "

These changes will begin to happen over the next few months, just in time for the holiday shopping rush.
