The Wild Animal Park Will Soon Be Home to First Giraffe Calf in Central New York
Central New York is about to see the first giraffe calf. Jasmine is pregnant at The Wild Animal Park in Chittenango.
"We're very excited for a giraffe calf," said park owner Jeff Taylor, who made the big announcement on Facebook.
Jase and Jasmine have called the Wild Animal Park home since they were very young and Taylor says, "they are finally breeding age."
The giraffe calf is expected to be born in July or August, just in time for the summer crowds.
April the giraffe caught worldwide attention when she gave birth at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville in 2017. Let's hope the Wild Animal Park and Jasmine's birth will go viral too.
The Wild Animal Park opens for the season Saturday, April 17th but you can still get up close and personal with some of the animals, including Jase and Jasmine.
Or Stella and Stanley for a sloth encounter.
Snuggle up with two new baby otters, Otto and Octavia.
Flip over penguins.
Or how about a baby hippo? Yeti is a 1 year-old Pygmy Hippo that loves to eat sweet potatoes. You can help feed him and learn all about Pygmy Hippos during your encounter with a trained keeper. You'll even get a painting to take home, crafted by Yeti himself.
Each half hour long encounter is $150 for 1 to 2 people. 3 to 4 people costs $200. Each additional person over 4 people is $50.
You can book your half hour up close and personal encounters. You can even purchase a gift certificate for that animal lover on your Christmas wish list.
