One of the biggest complaints I hear from people here in Central New York is, "There's nothing to do!" Well, as I learned recently, if you look hard enough you can find something and I found it at The Hamilton College Root Glen. It's a beautiful trail with all sorts of trees, plants, and flowers. You want to escape the busy life of the city and enjoy nature? This is the place to do it.

The Root family is very well known for farming, nature, and all sorts of agriculture in the area and Elihu Root wanted to create a garden for his daughter Edith Root. That vision has turned into The Root Glen, which is cared and maintained by the horticulture staff of Hamilton College and there is constant research and studies going on at the glen. It is definitely a sight to see and it's fun for all ages.
