After Warren Buffett expressed his doubt that Walmart could beat online rival Amazon, we learned that Walmart is trying something new - online grocery ordering and curbside pickup. And it looks like it's first test market in our state is right here in Central New York.

According to Syracuse.com, Walmart on Genesee Street in Camillus recently had it's request approved by the Camillus Planning Board to build a canopy alongside the building for grocery pickup. The company has not announced the date when the service will launch.

This has been a recent trend with Hannaford in New Hartford and several Wegman's locations offering a similar program. The big difference is Walmart will be offering the service free, with a $30 minimum order. You can order from the Walmart App or from Walmart.com, then schedule a pickup time and they'll bring your groceries right to your car. What could be easier than that? Walmart already offers this in a few other markets but this would be it's first in New York.
