Utica started 2014 with the implosion of the Fay Street Warehouse to make way for reconstruction of the Arterial highway (NYS Route 5-8-12). On August 23, Albany experienced their own demolition as the eleven story Wellington Hotel Annex building was imploded. The land will be used for a new convention center.

The building took about 55 seconds to implode and there was quite the show as each round of detonations let off different colors of smoke.
