
West Winfield Man Killed In Crash On Route 840
A West Winfield man was killed in a one-car crash on Route 840 in Whitestown.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says 47-year old Kevin Gillece of Scranton, Pennsylvania was traveling southbound on Roue 840 just before 7:30 Saturday morning when according to witnesses, a vehicle being driven by 33-year old Scott Rice of West Winfield crossed into the southbound lane and hit Gillece's SUV head-on.
Rice's vehicle caught on fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies say a motorcycle that was driving behind Gillece's vehicle crashed to avoid being involved in the accident..
The driver, 25-yrear old Cameron Stewart of Westmoreland, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Gillece was transported to St. E's by Mercy Flight, also with non-life threatening injuries.
