Baby Gorillas aren't all that common, but that's OK with Koko because this giant ape loves playing with kittens.

Koko is one special gorilla. Not only does she have a vocabulary of over 1000 words, she also has a heart of gold. She recently celebrated her 44th birthday by enjoying some playtime with a litter of kittens at an animal sanctuary in Redwood City, California. Koko's keepers say that she communicates with the cats using sign language.

Koko is physically strong enough to lift hundreds of pounds, but she also knows how to gently play with the little ones. According to Nerdist.com:

Koko has loved kittens for a long time. She received her first, ALL BALL (a name Koko signed herself), back in 1983. ALL BALL was unfortunately struck by a car six months later, and when Koko learned what had happened, she grieved, like we do. Koko eventually was ready for another kitty companion, and her third, SMOKY, lived with Koko for almost 20 years.

Koko fell in love with the newest members of her adopted family Ms. Black, and Ms. Gray.

Koko also made friends with the late Robin Williams. In fact, the two once got into a tickle fight.
