Summer is great but it's also a very dangerous time for motorists.  Did you know August is the deadliest month?

The current issue of AAA New York Car and Travel features an article about the deadliest days and times for drivers.  August tops the list, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, and early Saturday and Sunday mornings are the most dangerous times for drivers.   The reason?  Alcohol, tired drivers and unsupervised teenage drivers .  Ten percent of all fatal crashes happen between midnight and six a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.  Think snow is the most dangerous weather factor?  Not so.  Rain is the top culprit for fatalities, with four times as many fatalities on rainy days vs snowy ones.  So be careful on those rainy summer days, okay?
