George Zimmerman’s Wife Files For Divorce After Lying For Him To a Judge

George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, has filed for divorce from her husband, George Zimmerman. This according to a statement from her attorney to the Los Angeles Times on Thursday September 5th, 2013.

Last week, Shellie pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor perjury charge after lying to a judge about the couple's finances as the judge was setting bail for her husband George. The LA Times reports;

"She was scared," her attorney, Kelly Sims, told the Associated Press after Shellie Zimmerman made the guilty plea. "Her husband was locked up. She didn't know what was going on. So she stood by her man, like Tammy Wynette says."

Now, just a few days later, Sims has confirmed that her client has filed for divorce. (Sims didn't comment further when The Times asked if Shellie Zimmerman had a statement about the divorce.

Shellie Zimmerman has not been in much trouble in her life so she was only sentenced to 100 hours of community service and a year of probation.
