The latest episode of "Munchies with Matt" takes Matt to Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel where he had a chance to chow down at Champions Buffet.

Vernon Downs isn't just about horse racing, and winning money, it's also the home to an excellent eating establishment called "Champions Buffet." Matt decided to visit the restaurant on a "Get Comfortable Sunday."  That's when the buffet features comfort food like macaroni and cheese, pot roast, and meat loaf.

Round 1 featured: Caesar Salad, pot roast, haddock, and some sort of beef dish with peppers and onions. The ***highlight*** was the fish.

Round 2 consisted of: Macaroni salad, macaroni and cheese, smothered pork chops, General Tso's chicken, and corn on the cob. The *** highlight*** was the corn.

Round 3: The pasta station. All the dishes are made to order, and individually customized. You pick up a card, check off all of the ingredients you'd like to include, and ask the chef to cook it up. Matt created a dish with sausage, red peppers, and mushrooms. It was delicious, and the best part of his meal.

Round 4: Veal parm, clam strips, and ham. The ***highlight*** were the clam strips.

Round 5: Turkey, shrimp poppers, grilled chicken, and more General Tso's chicken. The ***highlight*** was the turkey. (As per Matt's friend. Matt's indulging stopped at round 4 and this plate belonged to someone else.)

Champions buffet also features a dessert station with ice cream, pudding, cakes, and cinnamon rolls, but Matt was just too stuffed to have any.

Here's a view of the restaurant.
