The Extended Care Facility (ECF) at Oneida Healthcare is more than a nursing home. While we provide the highest level of medical and custodial care that only a skilled nursing facility can offer. We provide live-in, long-term and short-term rehabilitation that can give patients the intensive occupational, physical and speech therapy they need to regain their independence.

The new ECF opened in 1993 adjacent to the hospital and has a total of 162 beds on four residential floors, including an 11-bed ventilator unit and 2 respite care beds for those in need of short-term care.

Our Nursing department has a variety of opportunities. We are looking for Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nurse Aides. Full time, part time or per-diem positions are available.

Job Title: LPN


Summary: The work involves the routine care of residents in accordance with a detailed and well-defined patient care plan under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assignments concerning resident care are given specifically with limited leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment. Supervision may be exercised over the work of Nursing Assistants.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Eligibility for a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Possession of the license at the time of appointment.


Job Title: Certified Nurse Aide


Job Summary: This is non-technical work involving the routine care of residents and the performance of nursing services for patients that are not required to be performed by a Licensed Practical or Registered Professional Nurse. Work is subject to general and direct supervision concerned with actual care of the patients, which are performed under direct supervision of the LPN in charge of the patient and the RN in charge of the unit.

JOB TITLE: RN Supervisor


JOB SUMMARY: These duties involve responsibility for maintaining high standards of professional nursing services in the management of a department such as ambulatory, medical/surgical unit, a group of nursing units or an entire facility on a given shift. Special emphasis is placed on instruction, supervision and coordination of nursing personnel, as well as, case scheduling admission process and all related functions of a unit. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director or Assistant Director of Nursing Services with considerable latitude permitted for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out assigned duties.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered four year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, AND one (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, which shall have been in a supervisory position; or Graduation from an approved three (3) year school of professional nursing AND two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, and (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory position; or Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two (2) year college with an Associate Degree in Nursing AND three (3) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory position.


Job Title: Social Worker


Job Summary: This position requires a functional knowledge of the performance skills required of a Social worker in helping residents with social, emotional and related difficulties associated with their medical condition or recovery and adjustment to said condition. The work is performed under the supervision of or in conjunction with a qualified social worker who is available either on a consulting or direct supervisory basis. Independence of action will vary depending upon whether or not the incumbent is under direct daily supervision. Employees in this class are expected to confer with professionals or agencies in or outside of the facility to obtain assistance and guidance for residents.

Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor’s or masters degree in social work, sociology, psychology, human services or resources preferred; consideration will be made for an individual who has Graduated from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college with an associate degree in human services or resources and a minimum of two years of full time paid social work experience in a health care facility adhering to standards acceptable to the New York State Health Department; or An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in 1 or 2 above acceptable to the New York State Health Department.


Job Title: MDS Resident Assessment and Care Coordinator


Job Summary: To coordinate all aspects of the MDS, involving keeping the Interdisciplinary Team up to date with timely and comprehensive assessment schedules for each resident and ensuring that assessments are completed in a timely manner with the goal of providing excellent resident service.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Health Care Management. At least two years experience in professional nursing, with two years of which shall be in a supervisory position in long term care; or Graduation from an approved three year school of professional nursing and five years of progressively responsible experience in professional nursing, with two years of which shall have been in a Supervisory position in long term care; or Graduation from a accredited two year college with an Associate Degree in Nursing and at least six years of progressively responsible experience in professional nursing activities, with two years of which shall been in a supervisory position in long term care; or Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience as defined within the limits of above.
