Southern Tier Town Opposes Proposed Roundabout
One of the most talked-about changes in Utica this year has been the roundabout installed on Genesee Street at Oneida Square.
For some reason roundabouts are always met with suspicion or outright outrage. Such is the case in the southern New York town of Horseheads near Elmira.
Two roundabouts are planned on State Route 13 in the town. Residents packed a recent meeting to express concerns that the planned roundabouts will be
confusing. Others thought they would make it difficult to access businesses at the intersections. Others wondered if snowplows would be able to clear them, or if large trucks would have trouble negotiating them.
The NYS DOT did approve the roundabouts.
