This Weekend Is The Great American Irish Festival In Herkimer

Everyone at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds this weekend is a little bit Irish.  Why?  This weekend is the Great American Irish Festival at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds in Herkimer.  This is the Festival's 10th year.

A couple of years ago, I went to the Festival and had a blast.  The music was great, the food tasty and it was fun looking at all the Irish merchandise to buy.  I bought a really cool rugby shirt which I've never seen in any store locally.

Enjoy Irish dancing, a bagpipe competition, contemporary and traditional Celtic music, food and lot of fun.  Events will happen on three different stages.  Some of the performers for the festival include Hair of the Dog, Rattlin' Bog, Enter the Haggis and the Blarney Rebel Band.  Fun activities for teens, wee folk, men's rugby and more.

Saturday morning features a 5K Ranger Run, which begins at 10 am.  The Great American Irish Festival runs from 5pm until 11pm today, tomorrow from noon until 11pm and Sunday the 28th from noon until 5pm.  Parking is free and kids 12 and under get in for free.  The weather is going to be great and this is one festival not to be missed.
